FAQ
A. Our team competes in the FIRST® Robotics Competition, where each team receives a unique number based on the order of their registration. As the 7,589th team to join, we are officially recognized as Team 7589. This number is used to identify us at competitions and on leaderboards throughout the season.
A. FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a non-profit organization founded by Dean Kamen to inspire students of all ages to engage in robotics and technology. It offers a variety of programs, with the FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) serving as its flagship. Our team proudly participates in FRC, where students collaborate to build robots and solve real-world challenges. To learn more, visit the official FIRST® website.
A. We founded our robotics club to inspire and teach young people about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As part of a global network of FRC teams, we learn by doing in fields such as mechanical engineering and programming while acquiring the skills to solve complex problems under tight constraints. The competition also exposes us to business principles, such as project management and marketing. Apart from the technical know-how, it gives us a platform to transfer the passion to others—touching the lives of individuals of all ages, backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life who may not have otherwise been introduced to STEM. Most importantly, we do so because it's incredibly fun.
A. Being part of the team, you can learn an excellent range of skills from other students, alumni, and mentors. If you're interested in programming, mechanical design, or electrical systems, there's always advice and support to help you improve. If you're interested in things like public relations, finance, photography, or filmmaking, our business and media team provides hands-on training and experience. Apart from technical skills, your time in the team will also allow you to build confidence, improve communication, improve teamwork, and sharpen your critical thinking skills.
A. No, FIRST® games are not about destroying other teams' robots. Rather, they are robotic sports—akin to soccer—where two alliances of three robots compete on a field to achieve the game's objectives. Purposeful damage or aggressive behavior against other robots is heavily penalized. Because alliances change during competition, teams end up being aligned with previous opponents. FIRST®'s real objective is to foster innovative problem-solving, teamwork, and gracious professionalism—instead of building the most hazardous contraption.
